The Internal Family System's Model (IFS)

Dr. Richard Schwartz created The Internal Family System's Model (IFS) 30 years ago. Today, Dr. Schwartz is still an active teacher and workshop facilitator in the US and abroad, whom I had the priviledge to study with personally. IFS is at the forefront of today's growing edge of psychotherapy in uniting elements of system's thinking, trauma therapy, mindfulness techniques, neuropsychology, and attachement theory. Dr. Schwartz actively works in conjunction with many of the leading figures in the field of psychotherapy to help clinicians understand the human psyche in a more complete way.

I am a certified IFS therapist who completed all 3 IFS training levels and served as Program Assistant in an IFS training, I and am the co-author of the Guide to Integrating the Youniverse in Therapy, (
http://www.youniverse.net/guidebook.html) an instructional book for an IFS therapy tool.

Working with IFS has allowed my clients to resolve issues associated with

  • Anxiety and Panic Disorders
  • Eating Disorders and Emotional Eating
  • Trauma
  • OCD
  • Relationship Issues
  • Grief Issues
  • Addictions

I love using IFS, since IFS reduces client resistance; offers a compassionate, collaborative approach to therapy; and values the clients belief system and experience. Clients generally work with an increased focus and commitment to therapy and they report lasting results. I believe that IFS helps clients efficiently build new and lasting adaptive neuro-networks, thus help clients "rewire their brains" in a functional way that increases self-reliance, internal calm and resourcefulness.

If you are a therapist that wants to deepen your study of the IFS model, I would be happy to work with you. Sessions for therapists include supervision and the opportunity for personal work, as both facilitate a greater understanding of the model.
